The leading figure in this field is Fondazione Collegio Carlo Alberto, a body Compagnia participates in with the University of Turin,  working in the university sector with the Student Programme and third level didactics (masters, PhDs).

Basic research is conducted by internationally recruited scholars; a consistent part of the resources are allocated to the PhD Programme of Economics at the University of Turin, which have been stably located at the Collegio. Since 2016, the College's research activities include legal sciences through the integration of the “Polo giuridico torinese”, with particular reference to the comparative and transnational perspective of law, global economic dynamics and the diversity of legal systems on the international scene.

The link between basic and applied research is intentionally targeted to politics.
